A ten-week collection on issues you need to find out about fundraising.
Not handed to me on a mountain, however gathered slowly over the course of years working in fundraising.
Donors don’t give to help organizations or applications; they provide to make one thing occur.
It is a exhausting commandment to comply with. It requires us to get outdoors personal personal perspective and to see via the eyes of less-connected, less-knowledgable donors.
The reality that emerges from this understanding is that your donors actually don’t care about your applications. They don’t even care a lot about your group. However they love the issues your group and applications make occur.
That’s why “help us” is a dud in fundraising. It’s asking donors to do one thing they don’t care about.
Discuss to donors about what their giving will do.
The remainder of the commandments (up to now).
